Joe Milam
Joe founded AngelSpan in 2014 to bring much-needed innovation to how we fund innovation.
Prior to AngelSpan, Joe owned and managed a multi-family office in Menlo Park for 20 years. When the internet commercialized, Joe became an early and active angel investor for both himself and his clients. He recognized the absence of meaningful process rigor in how investment decisions were made, how little proper reporting and data was available on startups, and how little risk management was taking place. This prompted him to start a predecessor company to AngelSpan in 2000 – Angel Legacy, LLC. Unfortunately it was “too much and too soon” to implement investment rigor in this nascent industry. Angel Legacy was closed in 2003.
After moving to Austin, TX in 2013 (his 3 kids beat him to Texas, so he followed), he re-started what he built at Angel Legacy, and founded AngelSpan and the Legacy Funds division.
Don’t ask him about cigars, fly-fishing, or his family connection to Ben Milam – the first hero of the Texas Revolution – unless you have plenty of time to waste.
Communications Analyst
Alec Boggess
Alec joined AngelSpan in 2021 as a Communications Analyst after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics.
Prior to joining AngelSpan, Alec worked with a digital marketing agency, where he served as a campaign creator and manager, while wearing a second hat in new client acquisition.
Alec enjoys playing basketball, playing piano, spending time with family and friends, keeping up with his favorite sports team, the San Antonio Spurs, and embraces his love of consistent learning.
Communications Analyst
Nick Peck
Nick joined AngelSpan in 2022 as a Communications Analyst to help AngelSpan continue to reach its goal of revolutionizing how we fund innovation.
Prior to AngelSpan, Nick was a technical writer who worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs and their IT Strategic Communications department.
He played collegiate football for four years at Upper Iowa University as a long snapper while earning his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies.
